It’s Throwback Thursday! This was completely my wife’s idea, but I liked it enough to try it. We’re going to see how this works. If it works out well, it may become an every-week thing. The idea is to take something from the past and write about it. Since this is a blog, writing about it may be a good idea. First up: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Everyone loved the Ninja Turtles. I assume most people who watched the show had a favorite. Mine was Donatello, but Michelangelo was probably most people’s favorite. I’m don’t have a strong opinion on Leonardo. And did anyone like Raphael? Seriously?
I had the Nintendo game, which is probably the hardest game ever made. Even now when I play the game (with emulators on my PC. I don’t have an NES sitting around, although that would be sweet), I can’t beat it. The electric seaweed? Insane! I always used Raphael for that level, because I didn’t care if I lost him.
I recently learned that the Turtles are back. I experienced this first-hand when I tried to get my nephew a toy that’s impossible to find. I may write a post on that whole ordeal some other time. Let’s just say I didn’t get the toy. It was almost like Jingle All the Way when all Arnold and Sinbad can find is Booster, Turbo Man’s lame sidekick.
Anyway, I’m glad a new generation can appreciate the Ninja Turtles. They were the first thing that I was really in to and it’s kind of cool that they’re popular again. I should find the movies and re-watch them. Maybe with my nephew. I haven’t seen any of them in forever.
Do you have any memories of the Ninja Turtles?
Do you think Throwback Thursday has any potential?

I personally like the Throwback Thursday idea. I can’t wait to see what you write about next week! Way Back Wednesdays also has potential.
Throwback Thursday? Great idea! Today’s topic resonates with me personally as I, too, have fond memories of the Ninja Turtles. Personal favorite, Leo, because I like the color blue. Not only did people probably not like Raphael to begin with, but I think the Nintendo game made it even worse, being the most useless character in the game.
Yes, exactly! How are you supposed to kill anything with a stupid weapon that barely extends past your hand?
This is a great topic. I had the Ninja Turtles action figures and i still have the Nintendo games. I also have never beat the first game. My favorite Ninja turtle was Leo with the double sword action. Although I always thought Casey Jones was cool. All this Turtle Power talk makes me want to play the game or watch all three movies, even though i don’t really like the third one.
Some of us weren’t allowed to watch Ninja Turtles. But I love this Throwback Thursday thing! I’m thinking Skip-Its, My Little Pony, Furbies (which are also back…and creepy), Pogs, Giga Pets, that show with the talking tree….
